Environmental Philosophy
It is our philosophy and part of our operating principles to manufacture our products in a manner so as not to cause harm to our earth, our air and our water sources. To that end, we endeavor to: - Train our employees to act in a responsible manner in dealing with environmental issues.
- Minimize or eliminate all forms of waste and recycle all that cannot be eliminated.
- Source our raw materials from vendors who share our environmental philosophies.
- Utilize, where prudent and practical, alternate renewable fuel sources.
- Reduce energy consumption.
- Offer products that are biodegradable.
- Participate in local and regional conservation programs.
It is our hope and intent that in participating in the aforementioned endeavors we will protect our environment and insure its longevity for generations to follow.
Details and Activities
As a US manufacturer, our products incur a smaller energy footprint than their imported counterparts since they’re not being shipped from overseas prior to being transported domestically.
Spirit's plastic products are recyclable where recycling for PP#5, PS#6 and ABS#9 are available, while our wooden products and paper straws are biodegradable and compostable. We use Post-Industrial Regrind as a form of source reduction within our manufacturing facilities. This is the process of reusing scrap material, thereby developing products using less new material while still maintaining quality. In addition, the company is looking into using Post-Consumer Resin (PCR) to produce certain products which are plastics created from recycled materials.
